Norfolk County Farmers Plan Protest Today

A group of farmers are taking their fight against migrant worker quarantine rules to the streets

In a news release, the Farmers of Ontario's Garden say they will hit area roadways today on their tractors to protest rules surrounding bunkhouses for migrant workers.

The release says the farming community is in a state of crisis as a result and immediate government action is needed.

At issue, a Haldimand-Norfolk Public Health order allowing only three people per bunkhouse when migrant workers arrive in Canada and must remain in quarantine for two weeks.

Other workers are then placed in hotel rooms to quarantine, which farmers must pay for, with some help from the federal government.

The farmer's contend the worker bunkhouse quarantine restrictions are unmanageable.
