No Charges Laid Against NRP Officer After Man Suffers Injury During Arrest

SIU says it won't lay charges against NRP officer who tried to arrest a man for impaired driving.

A Niagara Regional Police officer will not face charges after a man was injured during an arrest.

On August 30th, officers tried to arrest a man for impaired driving, but he refused to stop.

A CEW was deployed, and the man was apprehended.

Police administered Narcan and performed CPR after the man became unresponsive.

The man was taken to hospital in critical condition.

Special Investigations Unit Director Joseph Martino says there are no reasonable grounds to believe the officer in question committed a crime.
