Investigators say a man had slashed his neighbour's tires and threatened to kill him, and there were concerns the man had weapons in his apartment.
Police forced his door open, and the man resisted arrest and became violent.
An officer fire his Anti-Riot Weapon Enfield (ARWEN), and the man, who wasn't seriously injured, was arrested.
SIU Director Joseph Martino says the officers used reasonable force during the encounter.
