Niagara's Municipal Leaders Calling on Ford for Vaccines

Municipal leaders in Niagara have penned a letter to Premier Doug Ford, outlining their COVID-19 concerns.

Last night, Niagara's 12 mayors met with the Regional Chair virtually to discuss challenges the pandemic is bringing to the area.

Their chief concerns include the recent spike in COVID-19 deaths and recent outbreaks in local long-term care homes.

The leaders opted to send a formal letter to the Premier, urging him to ensure vaccines for our frontline healthcare staff quickly.

Other measures recommended in the letter include adding paramedics to the list of priority healthcare staff to receive inoculations, and increasing the role of local public health units in vaccine distribution.

The leaders also called on Ford to provide more transparency regarding vaccine distribution plans.
