Niagara Public Health Scaling Back Contact Tracing to Expand Booster Dose Campaign

Public Health focusing on booster shot efforts in response to Omicron.

Niagara Region Public Health is implementing some changes in order to expand booster shot efforts.

In a release, the agency says resources are being shifted from contact tracing to booster shot delivery in order to blunt the severity of the Omicron wave.

Case management and contact tracing will be handed over to outsourced support and artificial intelligence tools.

Public Health says a combination of communication methods will be used to let people know they have tested positive for the virus.

Calls may come from an unrecognized number or a text message that contains a secure link.

Anyone who has recently been tested is urged to answer all calls, respond to texts about their diagnosis, and notify any close contacts if they test positive.
