Niagara Health Joins Canada's 50 - 30 Challenge

Challenge looks to increase board and senior management positions for under-represented groups in Canada.

Niagara Health is participating in the federal government's 50 - 30 Challenge in order to increase diversity in positions of influence and leadership.

The goal of the challenge is to give all Canadians a seat at the table by improving access for members of marginalized groups, including women, people of colour, disabled persons, Indigenous peoples, and people who identify as gender or sexually diverse.

Niagara Health is one of 12 healthcare organizations in Canada to participate.

“Our greatest resource is our people, and we value the experiences and perspectives they bring to their work,” says Lynn Guerriero, President and CEO at Niagara Health. “Having a variety of different backgrounds, cultures and beliefs is fundamental to providing high-quality, safe care to all members of our community.”

Organizations are encouraged to aim for at least 50 percent gender parity and 30 percent representation of other under-represented groups on Canadian boards and senior management.
