Niagara Falls to Mark New Year's Eve

Niagara Falls will mark New Year's Eve with fireworks, live music and more, but COVID-19 safety protocols will be in place.

New Year's Eve celebrations are back in Niagara Falls, with COVID safety measures in place.

The Niagara Parks Commission tells us two fireworks shows will occur at 9:00 p.m. and midnight tomorrow, and can be safely enjoyed from multiple locations across Niagara Parks and Niagara Falls, including indoor venues such as restaurants and hotel rooms.

In addition, the six night Niagara Falls Music Live celebration will culminate with over 10 celebrations at bars and restaurants across the city, as well as a concert featuring Blue Rodeo, Serena Ryder and Crown Lands at Niagara Falls Convention Centre.

We spoke with Janice Thomson, President and CEO of Niagara Falls Tourism, who says all celebrations are mindful of COVID-19 safety measures.

"Since the outbreak of the pandemic, Niagara Falls has carefully followed all of the required protocols issued by the public health authority. We have long recognized that this is a public health crisis, and we need to obey and follow all the rules. Our operators in the attractions, restaurants and hotels, they're very experienced in hospitality excellence and they have adhered to the rules."

In adherence with provincial restrictions, capacity at the Niagara Falls Convention Centre has been capped at 50 percent.

All concertgoers will need to wear a mask indoors, socially distance and show proof of vaccination.
