Niagara Falls Mayor Going for Fourth Term

Jim Diodati announces on CH TV this morning he plans to seek re-election

Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati telling CH TV this morning during a live segment that he will seek a fourth term as the city's top elected official. 

Diodati telling the local paper a few weeks ago he wasn't sure what he planned to do adding he didn't want to overstay his welcome as mayor. 

According to the city's website the mayor has not yet formally filed his nomination papers.

Right now the list of registered candiates has former city councillor Joyce Morocco seeking one of three seats up for grabs at the Niagara Region.  

She's joined by Tony Caruso who is also seeking a regional councillor's position.  

For city council, incumbents Lori Lococo, Wayne Thomson and Chris Dabrowski have all filed nomination papers.  Gary Baker is also seeking a seat at the council table. 

No candidates have registered for either the public or catholic school boards. 

The nomination period closes August 19th at 2 p.m.

The municipal election is set for Monday October 24th.
