Niagara Falls City Council Discusses Border Closure

Niagara Falls City Council would like to know if they are any plans in the works to help mitigate issues at the border.

Councillor Vince Kerrio says the longer the border closure lasts the more important it is to come up with another solution.

"We all know that there's people coming across the border every day. So I'd rather have it so that if you came up to our border you have to have a test in the last day or so that shows you're negative. Then you can come into our country and we know you don't have it."

Meanwhile Councillor Mike Strange would like to know how the border closure will affect American students attending Brock University or Canadian students attending Niagara University.

Council has instructed staff to discuss the matter with federal officials and bring a report back to City Hall.
