UPDATE: DSBN and Niagara Catholic Students Will Miss Class on Friday in the Event of a CUPE Strike

Niagara Catholic and DSBN students will not attend school on Friday if there is a CUPE strike.

Niagara Catholic and DSBN students will not be attending classes if there is a strike by CUPE workers on Friday.

Niagara Catholic has sent a letter out to parents, saying without CUPE staff in schools, a safe environment cannot be guaranteed for students.

Scheduled field trips or after-school activities will be cancelled for the day in the event of a protest, as well as before and after school childcare.

The board says learning resources will be available online on Friday.

Meanwhile, in a post on its website, the DSBN says its elementary and secondary schools will also close on Friday if there is a strike.

If schools are closed on Friday, the DSBN says childcare programs operating in schools will be allowed to operate if they choose to do so.

Parents will need to contact their childcare provider directly for more information.
