The owners of Muskoka/Niagara Craft Brewery Tours claim that after receiving $40,000 from Ottawa, it was taken back without warning.

As reported by the CBC, the company received the funds through the Canada Emergency Business Account.

The owners say that they applied for the aid during the pandemic's first wave.

Owner Steve Kostecki says that their tour companies were shut down, and while they never received a formal response to the application from the federal government, the money did arrive.

Kostecki went on to say that the money had been removed without warning on July 3rd.

When they spoke to the bank, they were informed that they were ineligible for the benefit and the funds had been delivered in error.

Kostecki claims that shortly after the funds were taken out of their account, changes were made to the CEBA eligibility criteria, so they reapplied.

After waiting for some time, the bank told him he already got $40,000 and couldn't get it again.

Kostecki says that without the money, the business is facing the possibility that they will have to shut down permanently within two months.
