New Rules To Stop Spread of COVID Kick In Today For Arenas and Sports Facilities

Niagara Public Health hoping to prevent further outbreaks of the virus

Today is the day the owners and operators of sports, athletics and recreational facilities in Niagara must start monitoring and enforcing occupancy limits for change rooms, washrooms and bathrooms.

Under the new Public Health directive, occupants must be able to stay two metres apart.

Policies must also be in place to minimize the amount of time people attending the facility spend in enclosed spaces.

Public Health recommends people enter no more than 15 minutes before the start of an event and vacate 15 minutes after it ends.

Health officials suggest participants arrive fully or partially dressed to minimize time in changing rooms.

Lastly, the facilities must conduct active screening of all persons, including participants, coaches, officials, volunteers and spectators for COVID 19 prior to permitting entry to the facility.

Starting December 25th, everyone entering a sporting facility including staff must been fully vaccinated unless they have an approved exemption.
