NEW | Province Introducing Rapid Antigen Testing at Long Term Care Homes

The Ministry of Long Term Care is changing COVID-19 protocols for essential caregivers.

Starting March 15th, caregivers who have loved ones in long term care homes, will be required to take part in on site rapid testing before entering the facilities.

When entering the homes, care givers will complete a screening, and have a swab taken by an RPN, then they will have to wait 15 minutes for the results.

If it's negative they can enter the home.

If it's positive then the individual will have to book an appointment for a COVID nasal swab test.

The caregivers will have to undergo the rapid testing three times a week, if they visit more than five times a week.

For those who visit less, tests are required twice weekly.

Staff at long term care homes begin the Rapid Antigen Testing this week.
