National Day of Mourning 2022

National Day of Mourning pays tribute to those hurt or killed at work.

Today is National Day of Mourning, a day to remember workers killed or injured on the job.

In a statement, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is encouraging Canadians to observe a moment of silence today in tribute to workers who have been hurt or lost their lives on the job.

Here in Niagara, the Town of Pelham has lowered flags at the municipal building to half mast.

Meanwhile, Welland Mayor Frank Campion has also released a statement, asking us to think about frontline workers who continue to serve the public as COVID-19 restrictions ease.

As well, the City of St. Catharines says all flags at City facilities are flying at half-mast today.
