NACI Recommends AstraZeneca for People 30+

Canada's National Advisory Committee on Immunization has recommended the use of the Astra Zeneca shot on people 30 and older.

The committee previously recommended the shot for people 55 and older.

Now it recommends that people 30 and up be offered the shot if they don't want to wait for Pfizer or Moderna.

Ontario Health Minister Christine Elliott's office says the province will continue to offer the shot for people 40 and older, with no plans to lower the age limit for now.

So far the province has received just over 900,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine, and the federal government says 4.1 million more doses are due in Canada by the end of June.

To date, there are four cases in Canada linking blood clots to the vaccine.
