MPP Oosterhoff Optimistic About Loosening of Restrictions

One Niagara MPP is optimistic about the ending of the state of emergency in Ontario.

Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff says that he thinks the province is ready to loosen COVID-19 restrictions.

"I think we've seen people take it seriously, we've seen the numbers heading in the right direction, obviously recognizing this isn't back to life as normal. This is still quite a significant number of restrictions that are in place, but at the same time recognizing the fact that we also need to ensure that there's balance."

Oosterhoff says he expects a decision to be made this week regarding where Niagara will land in the province's colour-coded COVID-19 framework, and the determination will be made off of rolling averages.

He also weighed in on March break, saying that the Ministry is leaning on health officials and educators in order to make the decision, and we'll know more about it closer to March break.
