Jake Hiebert passed away last week at age of 86

With the passing last week of a famous Niagara Falls native who was best known for his chip truck, comes a push to rename a section of a local roadway in his honour.

For years Jake Hiebert and his chip truck were a mainstay on St. Clair Avenue between 1975 to 2015, with generations delighting in his amazing french fries.

Jake passed last week at the age of 86 and now there is a push to rename his old locale on St. Clair in his honour.

Niagara Falls resident Rich Merlino initiating a request on Facebook to get the City of Niagara Falls to rename a section of the street between Queen & Park St, Jake Hiebert Way.

On Facebook, Merlino notes the move would  be "in honour of his historic contribution to the City of Niagara Falls, in particular the downtown core. With the changes taking place at the NF Market this should be an easy decision for Council to put forward."
