Moderna says it's vaccine works in babies, toddlers and preschoolers.
Moderna says it plans to ask regulators in the U.S. and Europe to authorize it's lose-dose vaccine for children under the age of six within weeks.
The company notes early results from its study suggests young children developed high levels of virus-fighting antibodies from shots that were about one quarter the size of an adult dose.
If approved, kids younger than six could begin getting vaccinated by summertime.
The company is also looking to have larger-dose shots cleared for older children and teens in the U.S.
Last week, Health Canada approved the use of Moderna's COVID-19 shot for kids aged 6 to 11.
Meanwhile, the National Advisory Committee on Immunization says it favours the Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 pediatric dose, due to the risk of heart inflammation in Moderna's child-sized shot.
