Mayor of St. Catharines Thanking Residents for Outpouring of Support

This comes after vandals target Walter Sendzik's car and home

Hours after denouncing the vandals who targeted St. Catharines Liberal Candidate Chris Bittle's car, the mayor of the city found he himself had become a target as well

Walter Sendzik woke up yesterday morning to find profanity laden graffiti had been spray painted on his car and home.

The two politicians have since received an outpouring of support from the community.

In a statement on Twitter, Sendzik says "Last night my home was vandalized - vulgar language spray painted all over the front of our house and vehicles. The hard part is when a politicians family takes the impact.  Thank you to all who reached out. Continue to take care of one another. Let’s help & support each other."

Both Regional Chair Jim Bradley and the head of Niagara Helath Lynn Guerriero also making public statements condemning the incidents.

Police are asking anyone with information about the vandalism to give them or Crimestoppers a call.
