"Black Lives Still Matter" march being held on Sunday in support of Buffalo shooting victims.
A march is being held in Fort Erie this weekend to show support for the victims of the recent mass shooting in Buffalo.
"The Black Lives Still Matter" march is taking place on Sunday, in tribute to the ten people who lost their lives.
We spoke to Marrika Sanders, one of the organizers of the event, who says the tragedy hit her hard.
"It was absolutely devastating for me to hear that our neighbours in Buffalo are not even safe to go to their community grocery store without the risk of being killed."
The shooting, which took place at Tops Friendly Market on Jefferson Avenue, killed ten people and injured three more, most of whom were black.
The shooter was arrested at the scene, and investigators are treating the incident as a hate crime.
"That could have been someone that we know", Sanders says. "It could have been a family member, a brother, a sister, an aunt, these were all people who just thought they were going to go grocery shopping and didn't come home.
The march will begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 29th, at Bertie Hall.
It will wind along the Niagara Parkway, which becomes Niagara Boulevard in Fort Erie, and end at Mother Park.
