Local Couple Donates $2M to Pathstone Mental Health

Donation will help agency reduce waitlist

Pathstone Mental Health is welcoming a $2 million dollar donation from a local couple.

The donation from Greg & Diane Slaight will help the organization reduce its waitlist, staff its newest site and aid with research and education.

"More than 70 per cent of mental health issues arise before the age of 18, and 1 in 5 youth require mental health care. We have acknowledged that the pandemic had detrimental effects on children and youth and we are seeing this first hand at Pathstone. Currently, there are 570 children who are waiting 3 to 8 months before they are placed in a program. Seeing a problem and not being able to solve it is frustrating, especially when the solution is in front of us." says Shaun Baylis, CEO of Pathstone Mental Health.

Pathstone Mental Health is a community-based organization whose mission it is to provide innovative and effective treatment for all children in Niagara struggling with mental health issues.

Last month, the Slaight's made a transformation gift of two million dollars to United Way Niagara.
