Lincoln Introduces Pilot Project to Reduce Neighbourhood Speed Limits

Speed limit to be reduced to 40 km/hr as part of pilot project.

The Town of Lincoln has greenlit a new pilot project to reduce speed limits to 40 km/hr in some neighbourhoods.

Residential streets can qualify for the program if it has a traffic volume of less than 400 Average Annual Daily Traffic Value within an urban boundary area and provides access to residential neighbourhoods and subdivisions.

Qualifying streets will see their speed limit reduced from 50 km/hr to 40 km/hr.

Council has also asked staff to report back on implementing further speed reductions in Lincoln.

"Community safety is a priority for the Town of Lincoln," said Michael Kirkopoulos, Chief Administrative Officer for the Town of Lincoln. "With the changing needs of the community, and more residents choosing active transportation, it is important that we stay current with our approach to road safety."
