Party Leaders Making Promises Regarding ODSP, Four-Day Work Week and Health Care Affordability

Liberals release election platform, Conservatives promise an increase in ODSP rates, and NDP vow to quickly reimburse northerners for health-related travel.

More promises from Ontario's political leaders as the election campaign continues.

Ontario Liberal Leader Steven Del Duca was in Toronto today to reveal details of his party's platform.

Del Duca told reporters the fully costed platform, titled "A Place to Grow", would draw money from contingency funds, with a goal of balancing the budget for 2026-2027.

The party says if elected on June 2nd, a Liberal government would propose a four-day work week, bring back rent control, end for-profit long term care and remove HST on prepared foods.

Meanwhile, NDP Leader Andrea Horwath was in Sudbury this morning, where she promised northerners quicker reimbursement for health-related travel and more local health centres.

She says if elected, residents won't have to wait more than 14 days to be paid back for health-related travel.

Additionally, the Ontario PCs announced today that if re-elected, they would increase financial supports provided through the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) by five percent.

PC Leader Doug Ford also noting the party would propose legislation to increase ODSP rates every year, tied to inflation.
