It Was A Year Ago We Were Cut Off From Our WNY Neighbours

This weekend marked the one year closure of the Canada U.S. border.

 Some numbers out of Erie Country are highlighting the economic impact to our region from that closure.

The CEO of the Buffalo Niagara Partnership says the loss of Canadian business in Erie County is inching close to a billion dollars. 

Dottie Gallagher tells WKBW News, the tourism industry in Western New York has lost 20,000 jobs during the pandemic.

About 30 percent of travelers who typically fly out of the Buffalo Niagara International Airport are Canadian and that number has dropped by 80 percent this past year.
