Investor Inks Deal with Owners of Fantasy Island

Grand Island amusement park may live to see another day

Grand Island town supervisor John Whitney tells Channel 4 News, a Chicago based investor named Gene Staples has entered into a tentative agreement to lease the now closed park from its owners

Whitney says Staples is hoping to be offered incentives from the state.

Most of the parks smaller rides have been sold off, but the the Ferris Wheel, the Silver Comet and the water slides are still there

In 2010, the Silver Comet made the list of the top 50 wooden roller coasters in the world

The famous Comet of Crystal Beach fame was sold to an amusement park in Queensbury, New York
