Hydrant Fire Flow Testing in Port Colborne

GM BluePlan Engineering will be conducting hydrant fire flow testing in Port Colborne.

The testing will take place tomorrow from 7:30 a.m. until the end of the day, and is being done on behalf of the Region of Niagara.

The four impacted areas are listed below.

  • Fares Street between Nickel Street and Durham Street
  • Johnston Street between Lincoln Avenue and the dead end
  • Knoll Street between Helen Street and Main Street West
  • Invertose Drive

Residents in the impacted areas may notice a temporary drop in water pressure or a temporary rusty colour in their water, due the the stir up between iron and mineral deposits.

The water will be safe to use and consume during the testing, but may result in stains to laundry.

You're advised to limit your water use and wait until hydrant fire flow activities have finished.

When the testing is complete, you're advised to run the cold water tap in the lowest level of your home for 10 to 15 minutes until the water runs clear.

If your water doesn't clear up by that point, you can call the Engineering and Operations Centre at 905-835-5079.
