The self-employed businessman wants to motivate federal and provincial politicians
A Niagara Falls mayoral candidate says disillusionment with current city council has driven him to run for office.
Joe White adds, during his campaigning, that includes people telling him they want change.
It also means motivating area provincial and federal politicians.
"They have to start fighting for us, in Ottawa or with Doug Ford. They have to start listening to the people, the change they need, and seniors need help. I have answers."
The mayoral candidate adds those answers include monetary incentives to bring business to the downtown core.
Housing and rental rates, as well as mental health care and seniors, are the top issues for him.
White says the city needs to get more involved in putting up new buildings, adding he's had long discussions with regional housing.
"They have a 25 year plan, and I don't know if it's going to work. They sent me graphs and charts, if that means anything. The city has to go above and beyond what regional housing has to offer."
The candidate adds even though he doesn't have political experience, he'd rather run for mayor than councillor.
