Recall impacts several models, including certain Odysseys, Accords and CRVs

Honda is recalling thousands of vehicles in Canada and the US due to a seatbelt problem.

About 500,000 vehicles are affected, including 50,000 in Canada.

The company says in some vehicles, the surface coating on the front seatbelts can deteriorate over time.

This could cause the release button to shrink against the channel at lower temperatures, stopping the buckle from latching.

The recall impacts the 2018 and 2019 Accord, the 2018 through 2020 Odyssey, the 2017 through 2020 CRV and the 2019 Insight.

It also impacts the 2019 and 2020 Acura RDX.

Honda says there are no reports of injuries due to the problem.

Honda owners will be be notified by letter starting April 17th.
