High Gas Prices and Gusty Winds

Both causing headaches for motorists yesterday

The clean up begins today after winds gusting upwards of 100 km/h across Niagara downed tree limbs and caused widespread power outages.

Fortunately no major problems were reported.

It was a frustrating day for drivers coming into Niagara or heading to the GTA.

They were forced off the QEW, not once but twice, after both the Burlington and St. Catharines Skyways were closed due to the dangerous winds.

Just before the Burlington Skyway was closed, the winds toppled a tractor trailer in the Niagara bound lanes.

To add insult to injury, gas prices soared to record high levels, surpassing $1.80 a litre.
