Racist and homophobic slurs written on walls and statue of famous abolitionist

A pair of St. Catharines councillors say vandalism in not acceptable in their city.

Councillor Robin McPherson tweeting out, that sometime over the weekend, "racist and homophobic slurs were written on the walls of Harriet Tubman school.  The statue of Harriet Tubman was also vandalized with paint on the statue as well as racist, mysoginistic and homophobic slurs."

McPherson adding "These kinds of actions are done by one or two in our community. It is our duty as human beings to call out this kind of hate. The only way we will end violence, racism, homophobia and discrimination is if we speak together as a community saying no more."

Councillor Karrie Porter adding as soon as a concerned resident notified them they called police, the DSBN and the school principal who immediately sent over staff to clean it up.
