Gun Control Bill Passes U.S. House

But bill unlikely to pass Senate

The U.S. House of Representatives has passed a gun control bill in the wake of the recent mass shootings in Buffalo, N.Y. and Uvalde, Texas.

The "Protecting Our Kids Act" passed by 223-204 votes with just five Republicans joining Democrats in supporting the bill.

The bill limits the age for purchasing a semi automatic rifle and also bans the sale of ammunition magazines of more than 15 rounds.

But despite being passed by the House, the bill has little chance of getting approved in the Senate as it now stands.

Senators on both sides of the floor are working on a compromise deal which experts say won't include any big changes to gun laws.
