GO Transit Talks Resume Today

Pressure from the union pushed the day up from tomorrow

The two sides in the GO Transit bus strike will meet today to see if they can get closer to an agreement.

The union representing striking workers accused the transit agency, Metrolinx, of holding up talks, after it said it would meet with the union tomorrow.

The strike that began Monday has cancelled regional bus service across the Greater Golden Horseshoe, causing headaches for commuters.

The Amalgamated Transit Union is striking over the use of subcontractors, saying the union has people to do the work that's being offered to outside sources.   A number of people holding pickets signs demonstrated at the corner of Stanley Avenue and Highway 420 yesterday, telling us discussions are on-going about driver hours, in which progress is being made.
