GM Truck and SUV Production Impacted by Chip Shortage

Production is being halted at plants across North America

General Motors announcing it is cutting production at most of its plants across North America because of the continued shortage of semiconductor chips. 

The automaker says the shortage is now impacting production of trucks and sport utility vehicles. 

Production is being halted at a plant in Fort Wayne and another in Mexico. 

CBC reporting it has obtained a memo to workers at the company’s CAMI plant in Ingersoll which makes the Equinox SUV that downtime will be extended to include the weeks of September 20th and 27th. 

No word yet on whether production at the GM plant in St. Catharines will be impacted.
