Niagara Falls has not seen a new long-term care bed in the last five years.

Niagara's NDP MPPs held a press conference at the Crowne Plaza Hotel today, to talk about the long-term care situation in the Honeymoon Capital.

Falls MPP Wayne Gates says the Ford Government has not built a single long-term care bed in the city.

"Hundreds of families in Niagara Falls desperately need long-term care for their loved ones who have been left to languish on waitlists. Many are forced to stay in hospital while they wait, which is only making the hallway medicine crisis in Niagara even worse."

St. Catharines MPP Jennie Stevens says the Liberals let Ontario's long-term care crisis get out of control, and the Ford Government is failing to build enough long-term care beds to meet the demand.

Niagara Centre MPP Jeff Burch says Ford is planning on slashing $34-million from long-term care homes this year, and Niagarans will suffer the result.
