Fort Erie Woman Wants Quarantine Exemption So She Can Visit Parents in Hamburg

A Fort Erie woman is calling on Ottawa to change the rules for families who live on the border with the U.S.

Sandy Pearce who is a U.S. citizen but has lived in Canada for the past 41 years tells CTV Toronto she wants quarantine exemptions for families divided by the border.

Pearce says she has been unable to visit her elderly parents who live in Hamburg, New York.

And she believes border communities should be treated differently when it comes to quarantine rules because there are so many American/Canadian family connections.

Pearce has applied for an exemption to the quarantine rules three times and has been turned down by the Public Health Agency of Canada.

She tells CTV, so many people in the same position can't spend two weeks in quarantine because of work.
