Total wagering for the season close to $30 million

The rain didn't keep fans away yesterday from the closing day of the 2021 racing season at Fort Erie Race Track.

But officials say the meet was cut short for the safety of horses and riders.

Drew Cady, the general manager for the Fort Erie Live Racing Consortium, says despite the shortened card they still had a tremendous season and were able to welcome back fans who missed out on the 2020 racing season due to COVID-19 restrictions

Overall the racing season proved to be a money winner for the track with $28.6 million in wagering for 2021.

Looking ahead to next year, the track has applied to host 40 race days beginning May 31st through October 18th.
