Niagara’s marinas, boat clubs and golf courses will be able to open just in time of the long weekend.

Premier Doug Ford says private parks, campgrounds and businesses that board animals will also be able to open this Saturday.

He adds thousands of people will be going back to work next week.

“On Tuesday, May the 19th we will enter the new stage, stage one, in the reopening of our province.”

Retail businesses with a street entrance will be able to open, as long as they follow strict social distancing measures.

Seasonal venues including outdoor sports fields, tennis courts and off-leash dog parks will also open to the public.

Veterinarians and other animal services like pet groomers will be available by appointment only. Animal shelters will also open their doors.

Household services such as cleaning and maintenance will be available.

Scheduled surgeries will also be able to resume, along with in-person counselling.

The province is also lifting the essential construction limits, in order to allow all construction to resume.

Ford says businesses should only open if they feel ready to do so.

He adds the risk of a flare-up in COVID-19 cases is real, and the province will be ready to respond.
