Premier Doug Ford says we can expect an announcement early next week, about when kids will be able to go back to school.

He says we’ve come a long way over the past couple of weeks.

“Yesterday we had 294 new cases, the lowest increase in six weeks. Today we have 308 new cases, but please remember we’re looking for a trend and these numbers are a good sign we’re going in the right direction.”

Ford says the reopening of Ontario’s economy will continue very gradually but steadily if it’s safe to do so.

“We’re working to get more businesses and services up and running again as safely as we can. I will have more to say in the coming days about the next steps in the safe reopening of our province.”

He says thousands of people are going back to work in Niagara and beyond.

Non-essential retail businesses with a street entrance can now offer curbside pickup.

Hardware stores and garden centres were also able to open over the weekend.
