Flood Watch for Lake Erie

There’s a flood watch in place as water levels rise in Lake Erie.

The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority says water levels at Port Colborne are already about 35 inches above average for this time of year.

The forecast is calling for strong winds, which are expected to increase water levels and waves.

The NPCA says waves over three feet are possible along the shoreline from Fort Erie to Haldimand County.

Water levels are waves are expected to peak late this evening and into tomorrow.

The NPCA is urging people along the lake to keep an eye on water levels and stay away from the shoreline.

The flood watch is in effect until noon tomorrow.
