First Shipment of AstraZeneca Set to Arrive Today

Health Canada authorized the vaccine's use last week for all adults

The first doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine are due to arrive in Canada today.

Since Health Canada approved it for adults, the National Advisory Committee on Immunization is now recommending that it not be administered to people 65 and over because it is not as effective as the Moderna or Pfizer vaccines.

Meantime, Ontario's Health Minister says they will  abide by the NACI recommendation and will not give the shot to seniors.

Christine Elliot says they are also looking guidance from the committee on whether they can delay the second dose of COVID vaccines by up to 16 weeks so they expand the number of people receiving their first shot.
