A Niagara tourism organization is getting some help from the federal government.

On Wednesday, Helena Jaczek, minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), announced a $68.5 million investment in Indigenous Tourism Ontario and 11 southern Ontario regional tourism organizations.

One of the beneficiaries is Tourism Partnership of Niagara, which is getting $8.5 million.

The non-profit specializes in tourism marketing, development and management at the regional level.

Tourism groups will use the funds to distribute grants of up to $100,000 to businesses and organizations looking to create and support experiences that will attract visitors.

Businesses can apply for grants, provided they cover half of the money for projects.

Anthony Annunziata, president of Tourism Partnership of Niagara, says the money will be a big help to businesses as the spring and summer arrive.
