Family Day Events Go Virtual Around Niagara

Several municipalities offering Goosechase app events

Municipalities throughout Niagara offering some virtual activities for families to try this long weekend.

Here is the list:

St. Catharines:

St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre will run several virtual activities on Family Day, live on its Facebook page including a Virtual Creation Station bringing the whole family together to create with craft paints and blank canvas or paper starting at 11 am.

St. Catharines Aquatics will present a series of quick, water-themed, at home experiments lined up for the weekend. 

The do-it-yourself experiment videos are up on the  City’s website, and will be broadcast throughout the weekend on the City’s Facebook page. 

Experiments include a Do-it-yourself Thermometer Water Fireworks and Grow Some Snow .

Niagara Falls: 

The city is launching its Family Fun Days contest today.

Try any five activities with your family (household) over the Family Day weekend (Feb 12 to 15) and submit an online ballot telling us which ones you tried.

Eight lucky families will each receive a $25 gift card in support of the local business of their choice.  (Conditions apply.)

Welland:

Join the city Family Day on Facebook for exciting presentations, inspiring messages, fun projects and even a scavenger hunt!

Enjoy presentations throughout the day including Club Rex, Scoop McCoy, Femme Due Feu Creations and Mad Science.

 Port Colborne:

Families are invited to take part in Build a Fire Truck Family Day Craft

The goal is to build a fire truck with any items you have around the house, including Egg Cartons, Milk Cartons, Tissue Boxes, Construction paper and Shoe Boxes.

Participants have until February 22nd to submit a photo of their truckto fpo@portcolborne.ca

Be sure to include your contact information.

The winners will get a family pizza, wings and cake meal from a local restaurant

West Lincoln:

The Township of West Lincoln will be offering an online Magic Show so you can enjoy in the comfort of your own home.

Several Niagara municipalities launching activities using the Goosechase App:

Starting today the city of St. Catharines launches the first activity in its StayActiveSTC Challenge series. This series will utilize the Goosechase App with games challenging the whole family to get out and explore their City, keeping track of their progress with online scores they can compare against other participants.

The first game, the Track Your Trails Challenge, will run until Feb. 20th, encouraging families to get out and explore City trails and track their progress with a chance for the highest point earners to take home a prize.

In Welland, take part in a Goosechase Scavenger Hunt Game  and win a family meal compliments of the Welland Croatian Hall.

Up the road in Pelham, download the Goosechase App and celebrate Family Day by participating with your family in a virtual scavenger hunt to win 1 of 3 Prizes for the family.
Officials say it's a great way to learn about your community and make this stay at home time a little more fun!
