ETFO Issues List of Demands Ahead of Return to In-class Learning

Union wants province to make sure parents are notified if there's a case of COVID in their child's class

With students returning to in person learning on Monday the union representing elementary teachers across Ontario have issued a list of demands they want implemented to improve safety for both students and staff

Among the demands by the Elementary Teachers Federation; add COVID 19 to the list of mandatory vaccines students must get to attend school,  cut class sizes to promote physical distancing, make sure N95 masks ordered by school boards are delivered immediately, provide students with the best possible masks, and implement improved testing and contact tracing

The ETFO also wants the province to reinstitute the requirement for schools to report and notify families of COVID-19 exposures in their child’s classroom and school.

Education Minister Stephen Lecce has a media conference scheduled for this afternoon to announce the plan in place for students and staff when in class learning resumes on Monday
