Education Minister Expects Sports and Clubs to Resume at Schools in September

But provincial MOH says it depends on vaccine rate

The province's Education Minister giving parents and kids a sneak peak at what a return to school will look like in September.

Stephen Lecce says in addition to a return to in-class learning, he expects some extra curricular activities including sports to resume as long as the pandemic remains under control.

But the province's new Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Kieran Moore says for that to happen safely we have to have a very high level of immunization.

He is urging parents to get their kids double dosed, adding there is just nine weeks left before school resumes.

Right now about 60 percent of Ontario kids aged 12-17 have received a first dose, and 11 percent a second dose.

It was just this Monday, the province allowed parents to rebook their child's second dose in an effort to improve that percentage.
