Dog at Centre of Pitbull Debate Bites Teen

Vaughn animal control investigating

Last month, the animal was seized by animal control in Vaughn after it ran away from its home.

Humane society officials refused to return it to its owner saying it was part pitbull.

After a hue and cry it was returned home, but now we are hearing the dog and its owner Tommy Chang are under investigation after the animal bit a 13 year old boy in the face just four days after being released from the shelter.

The boy identified as Muhammad Alzghool tells CTV news he had just finished his taekwondo class last Friday at a Toronto studio owned by Chang when he was attacked by the dog.

He says he was afraid of the animal but Chang told him to face his fears and brought he animal over.

Muhammad says that's when it jumped up and bit him on the face.

The wound took more than 20 stitches to close.

Animal control says it is aware of the incident and is investigating.

During the debate on the dog's lineage, the Ford government made a change to the provincial ban on the breed, allowing seized dogs that look like a pitbull to be released from custody.
