The union representing Ontario education workers says members are prepared to hit the picket line.
Laura Walton, the president of CUPE's Ontario School Board Council of Unions, telling CP24 custodians, educational assistants and secretaries will walk off the job if a deal isn't made by the November 3rd deadline.
While the union and the province met with a mediator last week, the sessions broke down after just two days.
Talks are scheduled to resume on Tuesday, just two days before the union is in a legal strike position.
One of the main areas of contention is wages.
The province is offering a two percent annual raise for workers making less than $40,000 a year, and a 1.25 percent increase for everyone else.
The union is asking for a wage bump of 11.7 percent.
