Court Grants Injunction Against Demonstrators Honking in Ottawa

Ten day injunction granted to prevent Ottawa protesters from honking their horns frequently.

An Ontario Superior Court judge has granted a temporary injunction to prevent Ottawa protesters from constantly honking their horns.

Justice Hugh MacLean granted the ten day injunction, saying while he needs time to hear more evidence, he has heard enough to make this ruling.

The request for an injunction came from a proposed class action lawsuit filed with the court on Friday.

Paul Champ, a lawyer representing residents in the lawsuit, argued that the noise is causing significant harm and can cause permanent hearing damage.

Court has resumed as the details of the injunction are decided upon.

Demonstrations in Ottawa against COVID-19 mandates are now on the 11th day.
