City of St. Catharines Lists Property for Affordable Housing Development

The City will be re-purposing the property that was once home to their Community, Recreation and Culture Services Department.

The 3.9 acre property, which is located at 320 Geneva Street, has been put on the market.

The City stipulates that the property must be sold at fair market value, provided a developer commits to affordable housing for the site.

The buyer will be required to ensure that one third of the affordable housing is rented/sold at 80 percent of the average market rate determined by Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, one third is market rate housing, and one third is social housing that allows for government rental subsidies for those with low to moderate income levels.

The property is currently listed near $2 million.
