City of Niagara Falls Receives Funding for Tree Grant Program

Funding will allow City to care for 170 new, native species trees.

The City of Niagara Falls has received a tree planting grant from a federal program.

As part of the CN EcoConnexions From the Ground Up program, 26 communities across Canada have been awarded grants for tree planting initiatives.

The City says the $25,000 grant will help cover the cost of planting and caring for 170 new, native tree species, many of which will be flowering types.

Thirty of the trees have been donated at cost by Land Care Niagara.

A small ceremony to commemorate the grant and new trees will take place September 24th from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Millennium Trail, Niagara Falls Lions Legacy Pathway.
