Charges Laid in Catalytic Converter Thefts

Four people, including a young offender, facing charges.

Niagara police have made four arrests in connection to several thefts of catalytic converters.

The investigation, which started in June, was a joint effort between members of the NRP and the OPP Caledon Detective Office.

Catalytic converters are devices put into a car's exhaust system, which convert pollutant gases into ones that are less harmful.

Facing charges are 20 year old Raphael Banon of Thornhill, 21 year old Tomaso Montleon of York, 20 year old Richard Molina-Lopez of Richmond Hill, and a 17 male year old from York.

As well, a warrant has been issued for another 17 male year old from York.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Niagara Regional Police Service at 905-688-4111, ext. 1002200.
